Employee of The Month PG-13
If you are looking for a romantic-comedy on a Friday night I suggest you pick Hitch or possibly any other movie on the rack besides this one. While this comedy claims to be romantic there is hardly any chemistry between Jessica Simpson and Dane Cook as they stumble through an incredibly poor written script. You would think the hottest most ditzy girl on the planet, the funniest guy on Earth, and Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite could at least produce a laugh. However Simpson and Cook do not live up to their end of the bargain. Being the first billed and main attraction to movie viewers you are surprised to find that Pedro steals the show. With show stealing moments like pulling up in a pimped out ’81 Honda or using his mom’s pantyhose has “robber masks” Ramirez is the only humor in the movie. Can you blame the movie for being bad when you hear the plot or lack thereof? Two slacker ware-house workers are competing to become employee of the month so they can date the new cashier hottie. The hottie is just that hot and that’s about it. Jessica Simpson talks in a strange, low, raspy voice the entire time giving hardly any emotional expression and leaving viewers taken aback at how she even got the part. Except in every scene Miss. Daisy Duke seems to be grabbing your attention through another angel. The deep v-neck of her shirt, or her short mini dress attracts the male viewers keeping their eyes on the screen only as long as a scantily clad Jessica Simpson appears. In her most “riveting” scene Simpson is “yelling” or speaking monotoned at Dane Cooks character I couldn’t help but laugh. The scene was not sad, emotional, or the least bit heart-felt it was simply so badly written and acted that it was hilarious. To top things of the movie put my friend and I to sleep literally in the theater. No other movie that has ever done that. Missing roughly 35 minutes of the movie when I awoke I was still clued in thanks to the too simple plot and very little movement in the story-line. As I said rent Hitch instead. This movie was awful.
